Oh, how I hated those long country drives with my mother and father. Being the youngest of three, I was always dragged everywhere. I look back now as an adult and realize that those were some of the best days of my life. I was living my own history with my parents. Today, the fondest memories, from my youth, are the long country drives with my parents to find that next best antique for the house. Searching through the smallest of stores, in the remotes of places, my parents could spend hours pondering the decision: should we buy this new treasure? Due to my father’s keen interest in history, no piece of furniture or knick knack could be too big or too small if it told a past story.

I believe your life is the sum of your stories and experiences. It is not about how much money you make or how successful you are. It is about relishing the joys and pleasures and coping with the painful and sad. Sometimes it seems we take a lot of things for granted until they are gone. Each day I embrace my life and all that it has to offer me. As a joke, I once told someone that I was like a Weeble (Weeble’s wobble but they don’t fall down). I use that expression all the time now to best describe myself and apply that philosophy a lot in my business, as well. Back in 1996, I started Heart & Home and have been humbled with the growth and success it has had. I can assure you that there has also been a lot falling down along the way.

When one of our home décor products spilled into the craft industry in 2000, I was thrilled. Our Vintage labels! My joy of creating things enables me to truly appreciate being a part of this industry. Using my hands and heart to bring history into the world reminds me of the antique pieces my parents bought. Now, with scrapbooking, this is the ultimate way to make your own history. I love this industry and all the experiences it has given me so far. The people remind me of those lovely small antique owners wanting so much to genuinely help you and to pass that history on to another. I hope that my products can help you to accomplish this for decades to come.
